Dr. Eleanor Yule is an award-winning writer, director and interdisciplinary senior lecturer working across both Media and Film Studies at the Liverpool Screen School. She has written and produced over thirty films, including a UK BAFTA nominated short, a series of bespoke arts documentaries with ex - python Michael Palin and a critically acclaimed feature film, 'Blinded' (2004), an adaptation of Zola’s, Thérèse Raquin, which was selected for competition at film festivals around the world.
In the run up to the Scottish referendum she co- authored, 'The Glass Half Full: Moving Beyond Scottish Miserablism' (2014, Luath Press), which analysed the impact of social realism in film and literature within Scottish culture. In 2017 her practice based PhD pioneered a new screenwriting methodology for the creation of Medieval film screenplays. She is currently working on a new film documentary, 'Stories from the Magic Attic', which celebrates an eccentric archive in Swadlincote, West Derby, which was salvaged by the local community. She is also developing a feminist horror feature screenplay, with LJMU Senior lecturer Rosa Fong, which centres around the representations of British East and Southeast Asian women and their experiences during the Covid 19 Pandemic and writing a literary novel based in Cornwall and Edinburgh using screenwriting techniques.
