Claire has been working at LJMU since 2002, initially undertaking evaluative research looking at resettlement of homeless people on Merseyside. This research formed the basis for her PhD which she was awarded in 2007.
From then she has undertaken projects regarding gender and ageing and the educational achievement of ex hard drug users.
Now teaching on the Education and Early Childhood Studies suite of programmes her teaching includes the sociology of childhood, social policy in early childhood studies and housing and homeless issues faced by young people.
Her current research interests are in supporting new students in higher education and she has co manages a Peer Mentoring scheme across a number of programmes within her faculty.
