Howard Reed is the Intelligence & Surveillance Systems Manager at the Public Health Institute. He works in the Public Health Intelligence Unit managing the collection of data from a variety of agencies in the North West. He has experience working with large datasets using SQL databases as well as MS Access and SPSS. His programming and web-design skills include ASP.NET, SQL, and HTML.
Howard’s role provides support for various data systems, including the ‘Integrated Monitoring System’ (IMS) which is used by Drug and Alcohol services in the North West to monitor non-structured substance treatment and the provision of needle and syringe programmes. IMS also incorporates our Drug Related Deaths (DRD) portal used to compile the information presented during our DRD panel review process. Howard is also involved in supporting data collection for the Trauma and Injury Intelligence Group (TIIG) and the Drug Interventions Programme (DIP).
In addition Howard has experience with the National Drug Treatment Monitoring System (NDTMS) and has previously worked in the team covering the collection of NDTMS data from community based agencies in the North West and all prisons and young offender institutions in the North of England.
