I am a Registered Midwife with an expertise in antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care. I have a passion for compassionate care in healthcare and for the carers and students who care for them. I have a long-standing interest in supporting perinatal mental health and wellbeing. I have been able to work outside the box in my career as a midwife to provide mental wellbeing health support, for which I received an Innovator of the Year award. I am the recipient of three International Awards for my hermeneutic phenomenological research study of the lived experiences of pregnant midwives, and have intrnational recognition as a Caring Science scholar. I have worked as a Lead Midwife for Education (LME) at my previous institution and also here at LJMU I am passionate about pastoral support for PhD students, and whilst a PhD student myself, I set up a support network in Wales for Midwifery PhD students.
Although I have an interest in qualitative Research Methods, I have undertaken training in Systematic Reviews from the Joanna Biggs Institute, and am currenlty supporting a PhD student who is undertaking Mixed Methods research. I have received a ‘Midwifery Education Team Trailblazer Award for my role as part of a PhD supervisory team here at LJMU and, also have received recognition from the Royal College of Midwives for my work on supporting the wellbeing of Midwives.
