Amanda started her first lectureship in Forensic Science at Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU) in 2009. Amanda has two work passions enhancing the student experience through developing practical sessions, organising curriculum enhancement experiences and obtaining Industrial placements. The second passion is leading the MSc Cosmetic Science programme.
Amanda has been responsible for organising the Fire Investigation practical on the 4103FSBMOL module, which has run since 2012, organising a trip to Romania to view autopsies (2012-2020) and organising the bomb squad to come to LJMU to undetake a lecture and demonstration of the bomb disposal unit.
Undertaking these curriculum enhancement experiences and more led to a VC Excellence Award for outstanding impact on the student learning experience at LJMU.
In 2022, Amanda became the programme leader for the MSc Cosmetic Science programme and as been responsible for organising curriculum enhancement activites to Croda International PLC and Lush Cosmetics Liverpool. Amanda has increased the number of industrial partners on the programme. These industrial partners undertake lectures, webinairs, practical sessions and provide industrial summer placements. Our industry partners include L'oreal Research and Innovation, Unilever, Croda, TriPrinceton, Joshwood Colour, Brenntag, Thornton and Ross, Fragrance oils and many more. Amanda is also passionate about ensuring the MSc Cosmetic Science programme stays current and the curriculum is led by industry, This is to ensure students gain the relevent theoretical knowledge and practical experience to obtain employment in the cosmetic science industry.
