Dr. Donovan's research encompasses nutrition and muscle physiology, with a particular focus on the impact muslce mass on head and neck cancer and its impact on treatment and muscle function. His work aims to understand the mechanisms of muscle degradation in cancer patients and develop interventions to mitigate muscle wasting and improve patient outcomes.​

Current Projects:
- Investigating the effects of muscle mass on the treatement of head and neck cancer.
- Developing exercise and nutrition based rehabilitation programs to counteract muscle wasting in cancer patients.
- Collaborating with dieticians to integrate muscle physiology assessments into cancer care protocols.
