Jury service

This page provides information about what to do if you have been selected for jury service.

If you have been selected for jury service and it is likely to interfere with your study or assessment, you may seek deferral of your service.

The Jury Central Summoning Bureau evaluates any requests for deferral and those requests may usually be for no longer than 12 months.

The University cannot request an excusal on your behalf, but to assist your request for jury service deferral you may request a letter through My LJMU.

If you wish to participate in Jury duty, then you can request a short term absence via My LJMU for a period of up to 4 weeks, but you should discuss this matter with your programme Team prior to committing to attending.
