Research impact: World-leading research across LJMU

Impact Hub

Liverpool John Moores University is a distinctive institution, rooted in the Liverpool City Region but with a global presence, and over 27,000 students.

We have world-leading research across every part of the university, according to REF 2021, and an ambition to grow our research quality and impact. Underpinning our current impact is research and knowledge exchange which explores new boundaries and has an impact on the world around us.

Our partnerships have enabled local, national and international collaborations which have both furthered our research and allowed us to implement new ideas in the real world.

The work that we undertake is impactful and transformative in many different ways. Our collaborations will lead to changes in policy, health and well-being, social justice, economic benefit and job creation as well as keeping our educational offer at the cutting edge of knowledge.

LJMU prides itself on its inclusivity, so the more academic staff are involved in research at the top table the better for them, their students and the contribution of this university to the Liverpool City Region and wider society. We are rapidly growing our research culture such that more high quality work is being undertaken in all areas of the University.

Students are at the heart of LJMU and providing a quality, modern, transformative education is our core mission.

On these pages, we showcase how research has an impact – in our teaching, in our city region and in the values our university lives by.
