Eligibility for academic promotion

Grade 7 staff are eligible to apply for promotion to Senior Lecturer or Senior Teaching Fellow on the basis that they:

• have more than one year’s continuous employment before the deadline for submission date
• have successfully completed the previous academic year’s annual appraisal or probationary review
• hold a HE teaching qualification and or recognition through the Advance HE Fellowship Scheme at FHEA
• have the relevant professional accreditation if necessary for the subject area or discipline

All eligible staff will have the opportunity of making an application for promotion.

There is no requirement for prior approval from your line manager or other senior member of staff. However, you are strongly advised to discuss your intention to apply with your line manager to receive feedback as to whether your application is ready for submission.
