Fellowship in Action
Today LJMU has nearly 300 Honorary Fellows, and while these prominent figures come from all walks of life and occupations, from politicians, authors and actors to scientists and footballers, what unifies them is the fact that they are exceptional and inspirational role models for current and future students.
Collectively they form the University Fellowship, a unique association of individuals who play an active role in the life of the institution, delivering guest lectures and masterclasses, hosting events, assisting with projects and supporting both individuals and groups of students.
Our Fellowship in action
Photographer, artist, and Honorary Fellow Mike McCartney curated a unique photographic exhibition as part of the University's 25th anniversary celebrations. The exhibition, entitled: A Story of My Liverpool Life, was launched at LJMU's graduation ceremonies in Malaysia earlier this year. It is now back in Liverpool and forms part of the University's cultural archive.
Honorary Fellow and acclaimed horror writer Ramsey Campbell was interviewed by LJMU’s award-winning poet and Andrew McMillan as part of our annual In Conversation series.
Honorary Fellow Vasily Petrenko, Chief Conductor of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, delivered a personal account of the history of the Soviet Union and Russia to a group of around 40 final year history students.
Disability rights campaigner and Honorary Fellow Sir Bert Massie worked closely with the University on its equality and diversity policies and helped LMU launch its new Race Charter in April 2017.
LJMU Honorary Fellow and celebrated performer Pauline Daniels delivered a fascinating lecture to an inspired audience, discussing her career path and experiences from stand-up comedian to starring in TV productions, musicals and theatre productions.
Sculptor and Honorary Fellow Emma Rodgers has forged close links with the School of Art and Design, mentoring student interns and delivering pop-up workshops. She worked with the FabLab to produce a new sculpture for LJMU’s Roscoe Speakers.
