Recycling and waste management
Striving to minimise waste and increase recycling
Our institutional activities produce several different waste streams, including recyclable materials (paper, glass, plastics, batteries and electrical/electronic equipment), general waste, clinical and hazardous waste.
We have a legal obligation to ensure that all recyclable materials are recovered and that any residual waste is disposed of responsibly.
We are:
- minimising waste wherever possible
- zero waste to landfill
- all non-recyclable materials sent for energy-from-waste treatment
- increasing recycling rates
- collecting and monitoring our waste data to set targets and review our waste practices
How we are recycling and managing our waste
We have facilities and processes in place to help students and staff dispose of a whole range of recyclable and non-recyclable waste from paper, cans and batteries to electronics, heavy goods and clinical waste.
Our waste guides advise what and where you can recycle your waste on campus and what each bin accepts.
