Important payment information for International Students
Deposit
Remember, as an international student, you will also need to pay a deposit of £5,000 of your tuition This will allow you to receive the Certificate of Attendance of Studies (CAS) letter.

Tuition Fee Fraud
Students should be alert whilst paying fees to the University.
Students should avoid using third-party services or individuals offering discounts to pay the University. Using a third party provides no guarantee of payments being received by the University.
If a payment is returned, the funds will always be sent back to the original source.
Sanctioned Countries
Liverpool John Moores University has a legal obligation to comply with sanctions enforced by the UK government.

To mitigate the risk of breaching sanctions, Liverpool John Moores University is currently unable to accept payment originating from the following countries:
- Belarus
- Cuba
- Iran
- North Korea
- Russia
- North of South Sudan
- Syria.

Pay Your Fees - Credit or Debit Card
You can make tuition fee payments with your credit or debit card from anywhere with internet access via our online payment facility.
Pay your fees
You will need your Student ID number and date of birth then select Pay My Fees Now.
We accept most major credit and debit cards other than American Express and Diners Club.
Pay Your Fees - Instalment Plan
Payment by instalments may be an option to help you manage your finances.
It offers you the option to budget payment of your fees over several months.
All UK domiciled students can choose to pay by either 3 or 7 instalments.
UK Domiciled students only - 3 Payment Instalment Plan
- September Enrolment: November, February and May
- January Enrolment: March, June and September
UK Domiciled student only - 7 Payment Instalment Plan
- September Enrolment: November, December, January, February, March, April, May
- January Enrolment: March, April, May, June, July, August, September
International student enrolments
As an International student, you have the option to pay your fees after paying the £5,000 deposit. You can choose to pay in full or by instalments, minus any internal scholarships. Please see the instalment plan page for further information.

Pay Your Fees - Via a Sponsor
If you are sponsored by a third party commercial organisation, your fees will be charged directly to your sponsorship organisation. You will need to show evidence on enrolment.
If you are being sponsored, you must provide an original letter on a company letterhead. The letter must confirm the amount the sponsor is paying and contain a Purchase Order number. We will directly invoice the sponsor and they will have 30 days to pay from the date of the invoice.

Update Card Details
If you have an existing recurring card payment plan, you can update your card details anytime by visiting our online payments system.

You will need to use the same email address as the one you made the original payment. You will also need to know the plan reference number.

Top Up Your Virtual Purse
What is the Virtual Purse?
The Virtual Purse (ViP) is a convenient way of paying for:
- networked printing
- photocopying costs
- library charges (charges associated with lost books cannot be paid using the ViP)
ViP is automatically created and connected to your university card and computing account.
The Virtual Purse can be topped up:
- online via secure web pages
- by using either debit or credit cards, at any time
- by the account holder or third party
- on or off campus using the web interface
Whenever you print or photocopy within LJMU, the cost is automatically deducted from your account. In addition, any library charges can be paid by using your ViP account.

How to top up your Virtual Purse (ViP) account
Logging in
- Go to the ViP website.
- Select Student login.
- The Welcome screen will display your name and the amount you currently have in your Virtual Purse account.
Topping up your account
- In the left-hand menu, select Top-up.
- From the drop-down list, select the amount you wish to top up by, then select Purchase. Please note there is a maximum top-up limit of £25.
- A confirmation screen will appear. Select Pay now to continue or Cancel to return to the Welcome screen.
Entering your credit card details
- Enter the full details of your credit/debit card as requested.
- Select Next, your details will be displayed.
- To complete the payment, select Make payment. Alternatively, select Back to amend the details or Cancel return to the Virtual Purse Welcome page.
You will receive an email confirming the status of the top-up. In the unlikely event of a transaction failing, please refer to your Library.
On Completion of Course of Study
Please note
Unused credit in ViP accounts is not refundable when you complete of your course.
It is your responsibility to manage your ViP account.

The Online Store provides a secure and easy pathway to purchase goods and services from the University. We accept all major debit and credit cards, including Visa, Visa Debit, Mastercard and Visa Electron, with the exception of American Express.
The Online Store enables you to make a purchase from the University at your convenience.
