His research title is: The Final War: a novel, with dissertation: ‘Post-War Science Fiction, the impact of the Second World War on Science Fiction in the Golden Age of Science Fiction 1940- 1970.’ Michael's research is an investigation into the development of the Science Fiction genre after the Second World War and how this can inform contemporary writers of the genre. His research interests extend to all areas of genre fiction, including SFF, Historical, and Crime.
He is also a freelance author, with his debut novel, 'Goodbye for Now', published in Oct 2018 by HarperCollins publishers. He has just finished his second historical fiction novel for HarperCollins, due for release late 2020. The novel written as part of the PhD study, 'The Final War', has been picked up for representation by Robbie Guillory of Kate Nash Literary Agency. Michael also writes for Black Library, both 'Ashes of Grimnir' and 'The Warp's Curse' are available now, as well as writing for other games companies, such as the tabletop roleplaying game Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Soulbound, published by Cubicle 7.
