Christopher's research has primarily focused on the careers of athletes and those working within the sports industry. This has led to outputs related to the experiences of migration and mobility. Recently, Christopher has been working closely with the Fans Supporting Foodbanks movement to help them measure their impact and grow their influence as part of the '#Right to Food' campaign. This research is alongside colleagues within the Sport Business team drawing on a British Academy grant which is supporting the focus on fan activism and collective action.

Christopher has taught in higher education since 2012. His andragogic practice across subjects focused on the sports industry promotes a reflective and critical approach, developing case studies and examples to encourage students to draw on their own experiences or empathise with the case at hand.

He also has experience within industry having worked as a sports journalist and headed development centres for England Hockey's player pathways.
