Vajira is a Senior Lecturer at the School of Civil Engineering & Built Environment, Faculty of Engineering & Technology. She has over fourteen years of construction industry experience and nine years of teaching and research experience.
She graduated from Kotelawala Defence University, Sri Lanka with a BSc (Defence) in Civil engineering. Her post-graduate degree is also from the Kotelawala Defence University, Sri Lanka in Civil and Structural Engineering. Vajira holds a PhD from Liverpool John Moores, UK.
Vajira worked as a project manager, contract administrator, and an engineer is the Sri Lanka Army and State-owned construction companies in Sri Lanka. As per the academic experience she was the former program leader to the BSc Hons Quantity Surveying degree program at Sri Lanka institute of information technology, Sri Lanka degree offered by the Liverpool John Moores University, UK.
Vajira has been involved in several prominent construction projects in Sri Lanka, including a specialized building project for differently abled children of the armed forces, the Tri-Forces headquarters building projects, and numerous other projects.
She served as Course Director at the Institute of Supply and Material Management in Sri Lanka. She also held the role of Secretary for Section C (Engineering, Architecture, Surveying) at the Institute for the Advancement of Science, Sri Lanka and contributed to numerous projects across the country focused on expanding scientific knowledge among school children.
Her research areas include construction dispute resolution, cement technology, waste management, and construction management.
