Postgraduate Research Festival

The Postgraduate Research Festival is LJMU's flagship annual event created by postgraduate researchers for postgraduate researchers. It brings together our diverse PGR community to connect, share ideas and learn new skills.

The event is led by a team of PGRs employed by the Doctoral Academy as festival coordinators. The programme brings together inspiring talks, panel discussions, workshops and creative activities linked to a theme that is relevant to PGRs from all disciplines.

All MPhil, PhD and Professional Doctorate candidates are invited to share their research at the festival. There are different ways to get involved with a range of presentation formats available. The festival also hosts the final of LJMU’s Three Minute Thesis (3MT) competition.

Whether you are at the beginning of your research journey or nearing completion, the Postgraduate Research Festival offers a supportive space to reflect, celebrate progress and connect with the wider PGR community.

The next festival will take place in May 2027. Recruitment for festival coordinator roles starts in November 2026. Calls for submissions to present at the festival will be circulated in February/March 2027.
