Teaching and Learning Academy team
Dean: Dr Phil Carey
The Teaching and Learning Academy is part of the Office of the Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Student Experience). We work in partnership with staff and students from across the university to implement LJMU’s Learning and Teaching Strategy. This sets out our university's vision for an outstanding student experience and excellent student outcomes.
In support of that vision and broader institutional strategy, our work relates to five main themes:
- Strategy, policy and process development.
- Professional development, recognition, guidance and support, including a portfolio of accredited Academic Practice programmes for both new and experienced practitioners.
- Evaluation and impact assessment.
- Technology enhanced learning.
- Curriculum enhancement.
In undertaking the above work our priority is to champion high quality learning, teaching and assessment, underpinned by a commitment to inclusive practice that respects and celebrates diversity.
"The LJMU Teaching and Learning Academy is critical to our university strategy to enhance the educational and student experience. Everyone has a role in placing students at the heart of our plans whether they be our students, teaching, or support staff. The Academy is forward facing, evidence led, and enhancement focused. Through this approach we work to maximise the best outcomes for our students in preparing them for study and employability."
