School-led partnerships

Working in partnership enriches us all

The School of Education at Liverpool John Moores University has a long-standing tradition of working with lead partners across the region to co-design and co-deliver school-led pathways to a PGCE with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

While LJMU is the accredited provider of QTS and of the PGCE Award, our school-led partners take a lead role in the recruitment and selection of applicants, and in the allocation of their school placements.

Most applicants on these pathways will spend a significant number of days being taught at the University, but in addition, expert staff in their school-led partnerships will contribute to their training. The exception is our partnership with Turton School, where (apart from an induction week in Liverpool) the programme is taught entirely in Bolton. Our partners provide a variety of postgraduate programmes in primary education and all secondary subjects and offer training in both tuition-fee and salaried routes.

Do our lead partners offer the course you are interested in?

Visit the Government’s teacher training website to search for the areas of teaching that interest you and simply enter Liverpool John Moores University as the training provider.

If you find a school-led pathway that matches your aspirations, you can then submit an application through the Government’s Teacher Training portal.
