Nursing and healthcare students
Accommodation that suits your timetable
Helping you concentrate on your studies
Students on healthcare courses can experience difficulties when sharing flats with students on non-healthcare courses because of their differing timetable, workloads and shift patterns. We want your accommodation to be the perfect place for you to live and rest to enable you to concentrate on your studies to the best of your ability.
Therefore we strongly recommend that new healthcare students live in dedicated flats. This recommendation applies to new students on all branches of Nursing (Adult, Child and Mental Health) plus Midwifery and Paramedic Science.
The main advantages to living in these halls are as follows:
- They are the closest accommodation options to the Tithebarn Street Building and the adjacent Library
- You will only share your flat with students on similar courses
Midwifery students receive an annual tenancy by default to reflect that teaching on these courses is based on the calendar year and not the standard academic year. Nursing and Paramedic Science students receive a standard 42 week tenancy by default to reflect that teaching follows the standard academic year - but they can request an annual tenancy if they wish.
Please note: Although healthcare students are free to choose where to live, no guarantee can be made about sharing a flat with students on similar courses at any other location.
LJMU reserves the right to refuse a request from a new healthcare student to live in a hall that it believes to be unsuitable.
For academic year 2024/25 the list of unsuitable halls includes Byrom Point, Copperas House, Capital Gate, Hardman House, Horizon Heights, Grand Central and St Luke’s View.
